George B. Verghese, M.D., a Board Certified Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic
Surgeons and member of the exclusive American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons has been
practicing orthopedic surgery for over 20 years. He has focused his practiced on joint replacement
surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder joints, concentrating on techniques to replace worn out and
damaged joints and the disability associated with this condition. Following completion of his
Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Massachusetts in 1999, he completed a
Fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at Harvard University in Boston MA. Dr. Verghese
completed an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at Ohio State University prior to his entry into private
practice.
Dr. Verghese graduated medical school in India and after completing his Internship at the
acclaimed Christian Medical College Hospital in South India, he moved to the United Kingdom for
further training. There he worked with pioneers in the field of Orthopedic Trauma and Joint
Replacement surgery. He completed Fellowships at both the Royal College of Surgeons in
Edinburgh, as well as, the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow.
In addition to his membership in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and American
Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, he is also a member of the American Medical Association
and Illinois State Medical Society.
Dr. Verghese has practiced in and served the Bourbonnais and New Lenox communities since establishing
himself in private practice in 2000. Verghese Orthopedics has offices in Frankfort,
Illinois. Dr. Verghese maintains medical staff privileges at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in
Kankakee, Illinois and Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois. Appointments may be scheduled at
